Starting in early 2020, Dorothy began her second battle fighting cancer - this time lasting for three years. After the doctors told her that the ongoing chemo and radiation treatments were no longer working, Dorothy spent a few weeks in palliative care at Peterborough Regional Hospital. She then came back to our home in Apsley for a short time. Dorothy‘s hope was always that she would get to spend her last days at hospice. On August 30 2023, Dorothy arrived at Hospice Peterborough. Over the next three weeks Dorothy received the best, loving care from the doctors, nurses, and support staff. The precious time that my family, friends and I had at Peterborough hospice are filled with wonderful memories and pictures that will last a lifetime. Dorothy passed away at Hospice Peterborough on September 22, 2023.rnrnFor the past year, I have been working as a proud volunteer at Hospice Peterborough. rnrnThis year on September 28, 2025, Hospice Peterborough is having its annual “Hike for Hospice” walk at Millenium Park in Peterborough.rnrnThis is the major fundraising event for Hospice Peterborough, as they rely greatly on community support and donations.
