August 29 marks 5 years since my love Jordan Brydges died. Hospice came into our lives through care for the caregiver respite services in our home in August 2018. That fall, the one on one support provided by their trained counsellors helped me to survive the hardest time of my life. In that first year of loss the Hospice Grief Group levels 1&2 allowed me to learn about loss in a hands-on way, and to reflect on what I was going through in a safe, secure environment. There are always Hospice groups that I can attend without worrying about cost. The support is life-long. I feel Hospice Peterborough is an essential service for both those who have a life-threatening illness, those who are at their end stage of life, and for the family and friends, who are here walking this earth, and carrying their memory forward.
